In December, donors gave another $435,000 to Mesa United Way’s 2011-2012 pledge campaign, bringing the total received so far to $1,160,000. The goal for the campaign, which started July 1, 2011 and ends June 30, 2012, is $2,825,000.
This year’s campaign has been slow-going due to a struggling economy that has left many former donors now in the position of needing help themselves.
Donors can designate a fund for their contribution, but the United Way’s Community Chest fund is especially in need of donations. Community Chest is the principal financial resource the Mesa United Way uses to provide financial operating allocations to social service agencies.
