Mesa will celebrate the opening of a new segment of Ray Road on Saturday with an event called “Rockin’ on Ray Road.” The event will take place at Ray and Sossaman roads, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. It will include music, bounce houses, food and a fun run that begins at 7 a.m.
Those who attend the event can park at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport’s administration buildings, or at the Chandler-Gilbert Community College campus. A free shuttle service will run every 10 minutes.
The $12.7 million road project includes two new miles of Ray, between Sossaman and Ellsworth roads. Also, Hawes Road is being extended from Ray to the Santan Freeway stretch of Loop 202. The new segments will be open Monday morning.
