Burned or burning Bibles have been found at several places of worship in Mesa at night.

The suspect in the burnings is described as a dark-haired white or Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20s of average height and build. He was wearing knee-length shorts, a short-sleeved shirt, white gym shoes, dark gloves and had a dark backpack.

Churches are advised to warn overnight personnel or custodians and ensure the proper functioning of video surveillance systems. If a burned article is located, extinguish the item if it is still ablaze and move it away from flammable materials such as vegetation, do not touch the item and call police and fire.

Contact Det. Fitzgerald at (480) 644-2598 for more information.
