The City of Mesa recently received a grant for $25,000 to implement a new program targeted at neighborhood revitalization.

The grant, awarded by Cities of Service, will help the city launch its “Love Your Block” initiative to clean up Mesa by removing 10,000 pounds of waste, eliminating graffiti and repainting houses. The city will pick the 12 neighborhoods that will benefit from the program through its Building Strong Neighborhoods program and Neighbors Helping Neighbors requests.

“Volunteerism has long been a hallmark of life in our city,” said Mayor Scott Smith in a press statement. “We’re thrilled to be one of 23 recipients of grants from the Cities of Service Impact Volunteering Fund, and will use these resources to help revitalize our neighborhoods and build stronger communities.”
