An 18-year-old gang member was arrested Friday on suspicion of criminal damage after a witness saw him and two others writing graffiti at Sherwood Park, and comments he made about the offense on his MySpace page helped buttress the case, according to a police report.
Alberto Villagomez was arrested about 8 p.m. after a witness identified him as the one who wrote “SSM” over “WSM” at the park with a black marker causing $1,162 in damage, according to the police report.
SSM stands for Southside Mesa Los Malditos and “WSM” stands for Westside Mesa, and Villagomez is a member of the Southside Mesa Los Malditos, according to the police report.
Gang members write over another gang’s graffiti to show possession of a geographic area, according to the report.
In addition to the criminal damaging, Villagomez also was arrested on suspicion of participating in a criminal street gang.
