SRP customers in a Mesa neighborhood were without power for part of Saturday due to a power pole being knocked down by a woman driving a vehicle who was hospitalized after the crash late Saturday.

The woman, who was taken to Banner Gateway Medical Center with minor injuries, crashed into a power pole in the 100 block of South Greenfield Road about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, shearing it off and causing it to hang from the tension wires, according to police.

SRP workers temporarily shut the power off, causing customers west of Greenfield between Main Street and Broadway to be without power.

Traffic in the northbound curb lane of Greenfield was restricted and people were without electricity for about six hours while the pole was being repaired.
