Three people are dead after an early-morning traffic accident in Mesa involving a car and a semi-truck.

Mesa police say the crash occurred around 3:15 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Center Street and McKellips Road.

Police believe a car containing three adults may have run a red light and collided with a grocery store delivery truck, then hit a pole.

Authorities say all three adults in the passenger car were killed. Their names haven't been released yet.

The Arizona Republic says the driver of the truck was taken to a Mesa hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they're investigating the accident.
