The Mesa Police Department has arrested an adult and a juvenile for a homicide that occurred on June 15.
A release sent by the department states 20-year-old Keishaun Green and an unnamed 15-year-old male suspect allegedly shot 52-year-old Darwin Banks in what the department suspects was a drug deal at 1750 S. Toltec Street. Banks was alive when officers arrived and provided a description of the suspects before he died as a result of the gunshot wounds.
The MPD used the description to locate Green and the 15-year-old suspect — whose name the department is withholding pending a decision to charge him as an adult — and both were booked and subsequently charged with a count each of first-degree murder.
According to the release, evidence found while arresting Green allegedly links him to another homicide where a clerk at a Valero gas station near Broadway and Gilbert roads was shot on May 31. The department considers Green a suspect in that case, although Green had not admitted any involvement in that case as of June 18.
