Finally a much needed bus route for Mesa's forgotton population after years and years of requests, albeit in only one direction.
However, I find in strange how Mayor Scott continued to despise Dial-A-Ride, especially after the east valley cities will save close to 3 million a year after supporting the RPTA decision to "Romney (outsource) " all of approx. 100 drivers, dispstchers, schedulars, and management of EVDAR in June, all layed off without a dimes worth of severence, many of these loyal employees with 10-25 years of proffessional service.
Instead they farmed out the DAR service to Discount Cab and their "independent contractor drivers" none of which unlike the past EVDAR employees are have any of the requirements needed by EVDAR employees i.e. CDL's or ADA training.
So as 100 Mesa families have been decimated by their layoffs, and DAR riders thrown to the curb Discount Cab profits on the same vouchers for riders sans any obligation for wages and benefits.
Also, Mesa had all their LAFTA funding restored, so I believe that a lot of this we can' t affford public transportstion stuff is highly suspect, the sorely underserved residents of East Mesa deserve this bus route and more now and not later.

Gee, a route that actually goes where there is need; how unique!
