Mesa residents who owe their local library a few dollars in late fees can get some of their debt waived by donating non-perishable food items.

Mesa’s four library branch locations – the Main Library, Dobson Ranch, Red Mountain and Mesa Express – will drop $1 off a person’s overdue fine for every canned good he or she donates. All of the non-perishable food items are then donated to the United Food Bank.

The program begins April 14 and concludes on April 26, and more information is available by visiting mesalibrary.org.
