One person has died in an apparent wrong-way collision in Mesa, according to officials.
MCSO's Lt. Brandon Jones said the crash happened near 67th Street and University Drive in Mesa around 6 p.m.
Jones said the driver of the dark-colored SUV entered into on-coming traffic and traveled a short distance before running into a moving truck.
MCSO identified the driver as 53-year-old Kenneth Jerger. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities said one passenger was in the SUV and three teenagers were in the Budget rental truck. Jones also said that authorities were called to Jerger's home related to a domestic violence situation.
Air15 video showed a dark-colored vehicle with heavy front-end damage. A Budget moving truck also showed signs of a collision.
The area is closed off and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
Officials are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
