A Mesa Dobson High School graduate, and current student at Columbia College Chicago, will be on stage at the Academy Awards this Sunday night handing Oscar statues to the best of Hollywood.
“You’ll see me on stage, hopefully,” said AJ Young via Skype from Los Angeles during a rehearsal break. “It’s very smooth; the stage managers are very professional. ”
Young is one of six winners in the “Oscar Experience College Search,” a contest that rewards creative filmmakers with the opportunity of being an Oscar handler.
The handlers will give each Oscar to the presenter during the ceremony and then escort the winner off stage.
Young, a former manager at a Harkins Theatres in Phoenix, is Tweeting about his excitement writing, “You know it’s real life when The Academy follows you on Twitter.”
