Mesa’s Somers to help lead national public safety group

Vice Mayor and District 6 Councilmember Scott Somers has been appointed as vice chair of the National League of Cities’ (NLC) Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Steering Committee for 2013.
Somers will serve his third term on the committee, which has the lead responsibility for developing National League of Cities’ federal policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, municipal fire policy, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, and court systems.
