East Valley gas prices fell again in the last week, according to AAA Arizona.
The average price of gas in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Ahwatukee, Apache Junction and Queen Creek was $3.395 on Thursday, 6.3 cents less than a week ago and more than 7 cents less than last month.
The statewide average decreased almost 5 cents to $3.461 per gallon. Nationally, prices fell a nickel to $3.539 per gallon.
“There is the potential for gas prices to increase in the coming weeks due to possible late-summer hurricanes and accompanying refinery problems,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “However, if no major hurricanes threaten the Gulf Coast and refineries continue to run smoothly, gasoline prices could decline further as the final holiday of the summer approaches.”
Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.327 and $3.710 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and Connecticut hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.222 and $3.931 per gallon, respectively.
