A band consisting of members dotting the Valley will be one group participating in the United Food Bank’s Day of Service on Jan. 4.

The Mesa-based food bank will host the Day of Service for the community to sort and package food to give to people in need of aid at its facility, 245 S. Nina Drive.

Joining the volunteers for the day is the band The Senators, which consists of four members — brothers Jesse and Adam Teer, Joe Bitz and Jason Yee — who all went to school together at Brophy College Prep in Phoenix. The members, who formed the band approximately a year ago, currently reside across the Phoenix Metro area, including Chandler and Scottsdale.

The Day of Service this weekend follows up a performance The Senators had at the Sail Inn in Tempe on Dec. 19 to raise money for the United Food Bank. All of the proceeds went to support the food bank.

“It kind of really fits with what we do,” said Jesse Teer, adding it gives the band an outlet to connect with its fans as well.

The Day of Service begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. More information about the food bank is available by visiting unitedfoodbank.org.
