Goodwill of Central Arizona will celebrate Earth Day by encouraging Valley schools to hold donation drives to collect needed items during the month of April.

Goodwill will collect gently used clothing, books, shoes, and household items from family, friends and neighbors. It is aiming for 20 to 30 donation drives at Valley schools during April.

Participating schools will receive funds for every pound donated, making it a fundraiser for their school. The class that collects the most donations will receive a donut party, and its teacher will receive a Harkins Theatres gift pack.

Eight drives are scheduled in April:

April 5

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Highland High School Band Boosters

8 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Mirage Elementary School

April 12

7 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Peoria High School Band Boosters

Time TBD – Williams Field High School Band Boosters

April 19
