The City of Mesa is accepting donations to support a program that provides food and supplies to residents in need.

The ABC: A Better Community program offers a slew of services for many city residents, including emergency food boxes, home delivered meals for the elderly and shelter services for families and children. The program also offers funding to charitable organizations like the American Red Cross, United Food Bank, Teen Lifeline and Aid to Adoption of Special Kids.

Mesa residents have until the end of the year to donate to ABC and receive a charitable contribution donation on their 2013 tax return. City utility customers can donate by automatically giving money with their monthly utility bill payment, and people who don't use city utilities can donate by sending a check to City of Mesa Customer Service, P.O. Box 1466, Mesa, AZ 85211 and write ABC: A Better Community in the memo area.
