The new operator of Arizona's Krispy Kreme franchise says he needs more employees at the state's sole remaining location in Mesa as the store prepares for a renovation.

The store, 6626 E. Superstition Springs Blvd., will hold a job fair 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 1, with opportunities in management, supervisory, production, processing and retail positions.

“This location is growing and we need staff that is ready and excited to work in a fast paced environment,” said Jason Sansom, director of operations for franchisee Hot Glazed Enchantment, in a statement Friday. “We’re always looking for people who are excited about Krispy Kreme, and are hungry for great opportunities.”

At the time of Hot Glazed Enchantment's takeover of the franchise, Sansom said many workers at the Mesa location were rehired. He told the Tribune earlier this month the chain is looking at opening new stores again in the Valley.

In early August the previous franchise owner, “Doughnut” Dan Brinton, abruptly shut down all locations except for the Mesa store, including the Chandler store at 4200 S. Arizona Ave. His Tucson operation shut down in June. Brinton ran a Krispy Kreme chain in Texas that folded in the middle of the last decade before buying the Mesa store directly from Krispy Kreme in 2008. It had been closed previously in 2006.

Brinton left the doughnut business to focus on other interests: He owns a Scottsdale restaurant, Beauregard Food Co., adjacent to what was the DC Ranch Krispy Kreme store.

They can close this location too. Worse doughnut I have ever had. Nothing but flour, lard and sugar.

ydolem, all but the Mesa store were shut down in the last month when the previous Arizona franchise holder got out of the doughnut business.
