Mesa is getting a new doughnut shop at one of its busiest intersections: Dobson and Main by the light rail line.
Doughnut lovers will be allowed to camp out in the Krispy Kreme parking lot, 1984 W. Main Str., the night of Monday, Dec. 3 to ensure a good place in line when the shop opens at 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4.
The first person in line will get free doughnuts each week for a year, the next 99 people will get free doughnuts each month for a year, and the first 100 in line will also get a free T-shirt. The first 12 guests in the drive-thru will get free doughnuts each month for a year and a free shirt.

I was in Minnesota when the first Krispy Kreme in the area opened. People camped out from the day before in the cold. I thought waiting in line for the latest I-whatever was bad, but for a doughnut, come on. I'mnot sure which is worse, this or the Between this and the "Hostess hysteria: Arizona shoppers rush to buy Twinkies" article. I like sweets (probably too much), but I'm glad I have better things to do.
