Pen at the ready!
The Mesa Historic Preservation Board is sponsoring a historical fiction writing contest for Mesa residents who are in fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
Students can submit their essays by Jan. 25. It must include real and imaginary characters built around a Mesa event that took place between 1902 and 2002.
According to a release, “each essay must reflect the student’s own research, writing and original thinking.” The piece can be no longer than 750 words and must be typed or neatly written.
