East Valley residents looking to launch off a few fireworks to celebrate the new year need to follow a few regulations depending on where they live.
Arizona residents are limited to the type of firework they can use, which fall under the auspices of Arizona Permissible Consumer Fireworks. Those include include sparklers, cylindrical fountains, cone fountains, wheels, ground spinners, toy smoke devices and illuminating torches, among other items.
While state regulations limit the use to private residences and require the owner's permission, not every city or town allows people to use fireworks at all. Mesa residents can use permissible fireworks from Dec. 30 through Jan. 1, while Gilbert residents can use them on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Visit your municipality's website to learn more about its firework regulations.
