Plans for a Chicago Cubs spring training facility in Mesa show a plaza at the stadium’s entrance and soccer fields where the team will build the privately funded Wrigleyville. The stadium will sit roughly in the middle of the mile-wide site on Eighth Street that spans from Dobson Road to the Loop 101. Practice fields will flank the stadium’s west side. Wrigleyville is situated immediately to the east and a revamped Riverview Park will link the entertainment district to Dobson. A broad path — or possibly a road — will serve as a gateway as patrons walk from Dobson to the stadium.

I still think the practice facilities are a waste of "great" real estate as our leaders state. But I will say, riverview is a dump. Not a nice park at all most of the year. Its time that area gets upgraded to be an amazing park, where people can use the lake besides catching dinner and throwing trash in it. My other big concern is there is a lot of mature trees in that park. We need shade and shade trees that are mature. I hope they replant all those trees in the park and development. need a splash pad and some more, innovative park equipment than the same ol boring stuff the city puts in. Be more adventurist for once.

What a con job.
Where is all the parking?
Why show those attractive soccer fields if the plan is to replace them with a shopping center?
Why change the park? It's great the way it is.

When you wish upon a star (or a Mayor)
makes no difference who you are (we were all suckers)
anything your heart desires (because that's all we are gonna get it looks like)
will come to you (from your lips to U-Know-Who's Ear)
If your heart is in your dream (our heart and our wallets)
no request is too extreme (how about the truth for a change)
when you wish upon a star (all those slick "artist's renditions that cost a bundle)
as dreamers do (thats all it is...a dream...no a nightmare)
"ENVISION"...IS THE OPERATIVE WORD FROM THE POWERS-THAT-BE....
ENVISION... WHAT YOUR $100 MILLION HARD EARNED TAX-PAYER DOLLARS HAVE ACTUALLY BOUGHT YOU BESIDES ANOTHER GLORIFIED BASEBALL FIELD BESIDES THE PERFECTLY GOOD ONE AT FALCON FIELD.
ENVISION OUR MAYOR, SCOTT SMITH, THROWING OUT THE FIRST $100 MILLION DOLLAR BASEBALL IN THE HISTORY OF MESA, ARIZONA, U.S.A.
