Mike Cowan, who will take over as superintendent of the Mesa Unified School District on July 1, has been elected to the board of the Arizona Business & Education Coalition. Also elected was Arizona School Boards Association's Panfilo Contreras, Catalina Foothills School District's Mary Kamerzell, Deer Valley Unified School District's Virginia McElyea and Maricopa County Community Colleges' Maria Harper-Marinick. The coalition is a group of business and education leaders coming together to advocate public education for kindergartners through 12th-graders.
