Pillows, linens and kitchenware are common housewares we tend to take for granted. But for a homeless person, new bedding, fresh linens and things to cook in are a godsend. Through the month of October, you can help the Mesa agency A New Leaf in providing these basics.

The items you donate will be distributed to those residing at La Mesita Family Homeless Shelter, East Valley Men's Center, Faith House Domestic Violence Shelter, Autumn House Domestic Violence Shelter and the youth Residential Treatment Centers.

The following new items are needed: pillows and pillow cases, white or light-colored twin and full size sheets, twin and full size mattress covers, twin blankets, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, and kitchenware, including pots, pans and dishes.

Donations are being accepted at the following locations: Development Office, 845 E. University Drive, and La Mesita, 2254 W. Main St. Information: www.TurnaNewLeaf.org or (480) 464-4648.
