The City of Mesa will receive a little more than $300,000 to provide vouchers to help cover rent payments for chronically homeless veterans and their families throughout the current fiscal year.

Totaling $303,784, the money will provide 50 HUD-Veterans Affairs’ Supportive Housing, or VASH, vouchers to veterans in Mesa throughout the current budget year that ends in June. The city’s portion of the program provides rental assistance for homeless veterans who would pay no more than 30 percent of their adjusted monthly income for their part of the rent.

Contact Mesa’s housing authority at (480) 644-3536 or the VA office in Phoenix at (602) 277-5551 for more information about the voucher program.
