PHOENIX (AP) — A federal judge has scheduled a July 25 hearing on an attempt to block enforcement of a new limit on when most abortions can be performed in Arizona.

A lawsuit filed by abortion-rights groups challenges a new state law's general ban on abortions starting at 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The ban would take effect Aug. 2 unless blocked.

Arizona now permits abortions until a fetus can survive outside the womb. That's generally considered to be 23 to 24 weeks.

The hearing will be held in U.S. District Court in Phoenix before Judge James Teilborg.

    So lets compare......

    Cause & Effect

Gravity & if you drop an object heavier than the air it will fall

    Sex & procreation, pleasure

Since the laws of gravity are unmoving if we go to the top of a building and know that if we jump we will fall and the consequences have no choice beyond the initial choice to jump anyway..... the price will be paid except that the preparation beforehand was put into action....

knowing this would you practice self control or just jump anyhow? and what makes the practice of self control for sex any different? Nothing except the willingness of a people to embrace the murder of the life that paid the price for someone else's choice.....

Only fear or selfishness could make a woman believe that abortion were the only option.......

Nanu this makes zero sense... there is no logic in the laws or any law that would allow the selfish act of murdering the life of someone that cannot fight for themselves... If we as a people would turn the tables and think about giving someone else the ability and power over our lives to take our life and have our mouths shut it would change the outcome....

Samkat - How many adoptions have you completed that save and preserve the lives of those that you would have just assumed kill instead of "burden" and when did it become our choice to decide if the cost would be too much for someone else to bare? Have you been abused? I would hate to see the actual stats behind abuse because if this is cause for an abortion well then more than half of the American population would not have been brought into this world.

Juggernaut - You are foolish and speak without understanding or knowledge of anyones history so you may want to consider that you do not know all there is to know and therefore to judge anyone puts yourself into the category of fool.... If they didnt want a baby then they need to not have sex... sex is not a right... it is a choice... life should not be a choice of men but of God.... and what the heck does Catholic have to do with it? Generalizations will close your mind to the things God has prepared beforehand on our behalf. To kill a life due to "unwanted" how much more full of hate and selfishness can we as an American people be?

ja9ellis - Why would you support something that you believe is not okay for you? Why would you desire that any other woman who may be blinded by the fears of it would suffer the aftermath that it brings?

Not having sex is the ultimate birth control and if the act of sex was valued by the people for what it was purposed for they would realize that the purpose is not for their pleasure alone but to procreate... if someone is that selfish that they need to have sex without producing then they should get fixed it is a lot cheaper and it prevents this issue.

First and foremost I believe in birth control, just not by abortion. And I do believe our children need to be educated about sex and birth control before their hormones kick in. I also believe CPS is financially under funded and that states and the government should step up and make the changes necessary to deal with these problems. Yes, I do pay attention to the numbers of children killed and abused every single day in this country. It is insane, but it boils down to adults being the cause for this also.

I raised three children while holding down a full time job for many years. My youngest is 35, which should give you some kind of time line as to my age. I am now disabled and would be unable to take care of unwanted chidren. I would if I could. I believe every child should have a chance at having a good and loving family.

@juggernaut8000 I am not a fool and I am not a Catholic. I do however believe in God and Jesus Christ, along with the Holy Spirit. By the way, they are not mumbo jumbo!

@ja9ellis Yes I do have strong convictions which are part of who I am. I will not apologize for that, nor do I expect anyone else to apologize for their beliefs and convictions.

@Nanu- You really are blind to what is actually going on in the world. You only see your views, your beliefs, and anyone who thinks different than you is wrong. Get over yourself.

I PERSONALLY, will never get an abortion UNLESS my doctor deems it medically necessary because I would never be able to live with the guilt of choosing to end my own child's life.

When it comes to other women who find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy, they should have the choice of whether or not to terminate it. Their body, their choice, period.

WIth the thousands upon thousands of unwanted children in the system already, it makes no sense to FORCE a woman to give birth to a child she did not want. And don't try and say "Well, if she didn't want to have a baby she should have kept her legs shut" because it's ridiculous. Thousands of women get pregnant while on birth control and many women get pregnant from rape and incest. Nanu, do you really think a woman wants to give birth to a child that will remind her EVERY DAY of the stranger who RAPED HER? Or remind her EVERY DAY that her father or brother FORCED HIMSELF on her? No, I don't think so.

Educate yourself before you write something that just proves your incompetence.

It is better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Nanu you are a fool. If a woman chooses to not go through with a pregnancy it is solely her choice. Having a child that is unwanted it a complete burden on society and if you haven't noticed, humans are not exactly an endangered species.

I can take a guess you are a Catholic and still believe in that whole fairy tale and your foolish views on abortion stem from the mumbo jumbo religion that has been shoved down your throat.

Nanu: I have a question for you. With over 12,500 children in CPS custody, why haven't you stepped up to the plate and adopted a few of them? It never ceases to amaze me that the pro lifers go to great lengths to prevent women from obtaining birth control, educate our children before they reach the age when their hormones start kicking in and preventing our social services and CPS from obtaining adequate funding to handle the case load for the unwanted children that are the byproduct of our failing policies. By the way, do you track the number of children killed or abused? Pro lifers are all mouth and no action.

Abortion is murder and should be treated as such! If a woman chooses to get rid of her child, by law it's ok but if a woman chooses to go through her pregnancy and is killed along with her unborn child it is charged as a double homocide. Make sense to you? The choice came when you had unprotected sex with another person. Own up to it and carry that child to term and give it up for adoption! There are plenty of people out there that would give your child a loving home and thus you would have no other obligation to this child! Do the right thing...
