This weekend, the floor of the Arizona State Fairgrounds Coliseum will be transformed into a large dental clinic for people seeking care.

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8, the Central Arizona Dental Society Foundation is hosting its first Arizona Dental Mission of Mercy event at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1826 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix.

The event, which will feature more than 100 portable dental units staffed by nearly 1,500 dental and hygienist volunteers, is projected to provide about $1 million in free dental care for those with pain and infection, or who need fillings, extractions and cleanings. Limited lab work also is available.

Adults and children of all ages who do not have medically compromising conditions such as extremely high blood pressure or severe disabilities are welcome.

The service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended to arrive early.
