A CDC report out this week shows whooping cough rates at their highest in 50 years. With that, the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is calling for mass vaccination of adults.
In Arizona, there have been a possible 581 cases of pertussis this year, according to the state Department of Health Services. There were a possible 867 last year, far more than the 546 examined cases in 2010 and more than triple the number of cases reported in 2009.
According to the group, there have been 350 reports of whooping cough, also known as pertussis, in Arizona this year. Though whooping cough vaccines are part of the childhood vaccine schedule, it cannot be given to very young infants. The only way to protect them, the group says, is for adults who care for the children to be vaccinated.
In some cases, adults may have been vaccinated as children, but haven’t had a booster.

Wow, so cases are on the rise even though the vaccines"are part of the childhood vaccine schedule" - and have been for years.
Of course, this couldn't possibly have anything to do with millions of unvaccinated people sneaking across our borders...nooo, of course not!

I'm guessing it has way more to do with uneducated people who *don't* vaccinate their children because they believe that vaccines cause brain damage, a claim that has been thoroughly debunked.
