A series of meetings are scheduled this month for families to learn more about Higley Unified School District's transition to middle schools. The district, primarily based in Gilbert, will move from a kindergarten through eighth-grade elementary school format to kindergarten through sixth grade elementary schools and seventh- and eighth-grade middle schools beginning this fall. Two middle schools are currently under construction.
This week, middle school principals Terri Wattawa and Nancy Diab will discuss the transition at a public forum, 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the district governing board at 2935 S. Recker Road, Gilbert.
Next week, Jan. 14-18, meetings about the middle schools course options and registration are scheduled at individual elementary school campuses. Check your school’s website to learn more.
Questions about the school feeder system will be answered during a meeting 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 the Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert.
