A 16-year-old boy has admitted to several burglaries and arsons recently in Gilbert.
Jesse Sanger, spokesman for the Gilbert Police Department, said the teenager was caught Friday morning and property from the burglaries was retrieved.
The teenager admitted to the burglaries and arsons near Recker and Warner Roads, Sanger said.
Sanger said the teenager rummaged through vehicles with unlocked doors in the neighborhood .
Police said a few of the vehicles sustained damage, including slashed tires, a broken windshield and arson.
Officials said at least 9 incidents of theft have been reported.
Authorities would like to remind people to lock their vehicles and to not leave valuables inside them.
