Youth spring ball sign-ups

Mail-in and online registration begins Tuesday for Gilbert Community Services Department recreational baseball, softball and T-ball. This instructional league focuses on fun, teamwork and skills rather than competition. There are several age brackets ranging from 5 to 15. Games will start April 5 and conclude May 15.

Registration fees are $56 for T-ball and $64 for baseball or softball.

Coyotes offer deal for Gilbert residents

Gilbert residents are invited to bring their family and friends out to see the Phoenix Coyotes play at Jobing.com Arena, 9400 W. Maryland Ave., Glendale, on Jan. 30 for Gilbert Community Night.

The Gilbert Fire Department has partnered with the Coyotes to offer special discounted tickets for the game against the New York Rangers. Lower-level seats are $40 and upper-level seats cost $20.

Library story time

Local libraries offer story-time programs for young children to help them develop a love of books and reading from an early age. The Perry Branch Library, 1965 E. Queen Creek Road, will hold a pre-kindergarten session from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and one for families with children 4 to 7 from 6 p.m. to 6:40 p.m., both on Tuesday.

CPR instruction

Do you know what to do in a medical emergency? Learn valuable lifesaving techniques at this first aid and CPR workshop. Participants will be taught how to recognize and respond to a variety of life-threatening medical situations.

The course is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Freestone Recreation Center, 1141 E. Guadalupe Road. The class costs $32.

'Beau Jest' stage show

The Hale Centre Theatre will present the comedic 'Beau Jest' play by James Sherman through Feb. 13.

To fool her parents, Sarah Goldman hires an actor to pose as her boyfriend. Can he keep up the charade under pressure from all sides?

The theater is located at 50 W. Page Ave. Ticket prices are $17 for matinees and $19 for evening shows.

Book discussion group

The public is invited to join the faculty and staff from Perry High School for this monthly book discussion. The group will meet 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Perry Branch Library, 1965 E. Queen Creek Road.
