The United Food Bank presented specialized, canned food trophies to Cortina Elementary School, Higley Traditional Academy, Sossaman Middle School and Williams Field High School. The four schools collected the most pounds of food per student in the district.
Williams Field High School collected more than 17,000 pounds of food, which is more than any other high school in the Valley. The donation required a school bus and box truck to deliver it.
Eighty-four schools participated in the annual food drive, generating more than 162,000 pounds of food donations and more than $3,400 in monetary donations.
