A Gilbert man was sentenced to 48 months in federal prison Monday for committing a bank robbery with a bomb hoax.

U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell also ordered 49-year-old Donald Ray Ludington to pay $5,600 in restitution.

Ludington pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery for robbing a Gilbert bank in October 2009.

Prosecutors said Ludington entered the bank with a backpack, set it at his feet and gave the teller a note that read "I have a bomb at my feet."

Officials said Ludington demanded cash and fled the scene after receiving the money.
