Jordan Ray, a Gilbert businessman, filed nomination petitions and other documents Friday to become a candidate for Gilbert Town Council.
“I know that I can bring a fresh voice to the Council, and represent the people of Gilbert," Ray said in a statement. "I am running because I am committed to Gilbert now and for the future. I know that Gilbert is a great place to raise a family, but we can be better. I am excited for the opportunity to help make Gilbert an even better place to live and do business."
Ray says on his website, www.votejordanray.com, that he is descended from James Wilford Ray, for whom Ray Road is named. He is the vice president of professional services for inData Corporation of Gilbert.

To be honest, ofuque2, Mr. Ray sounds like a "plain ordinary citizen". He's not a business owner, nor is he a real estate broker. I appreciate that he works for a Gilbert-based company and has worked his way up.
I also like that he is a family man and has roots in AZ. That is a rarity as Gilbert is a younger town.
Best of luck to you, Mr. Ray. Your ideas are just what Gilbert needs!

The only opposition Ray will find will come from the Fire Fighters Union who currently runs the table in Gilbert. Ray may stand in the way of their proposed $24 million proposed training facility.
Or perhaps he will shed some light on the Farm they bought for 10 times the amount, or should I say the Farmer that bought them. I think the problem we have is that there are NO 'good ol boys' on the council, just a pack of self serving UNION folks who are on the retire at age 45 plan.

After reading Mr. Ray's website, he seems like a well educated hard worker - just like many of the citizens of Gilbert. It would be nice to have someone on the council who actually understands the people they represent.

ofuque2, "What we REALLY need are just plain ordinary citizens with no major political aspirations". FYI, anyone who runs for political office by default has political aspirations.
IceCat, I'm guessing you got your bachelors at Yale and a law degree at Harvard? Or is it the other way around? Maybe you could team up with your buddy above and become the first blue collar-ivy league councilmember.
In the town's case I welcome someone with a legal background and law degree. Maybe someone can finally challenge town attorney Susan Goodwin's sub par legal advise and put an end to the town paying out thousands of dollars every year because of it.

University of Phoenix, and Phoenix School of Law; can't say that I'm impressed with his education.
I wonder if the Gilbert Mercy hospital gave him permission to use a picture of their hospital as part of his web site?
As stated above just another good ole boy mormon running for office that from the information from his web site brings nothing to the table.

Here we go again. Another "Good Ole' Boy" running for the council. What we REALLY need are just plain ordinary citizens with no major political aspirations to be on our council. Most council members are either business owners, real estate brokers, or are closely connected to them. A few good "blue collar" workers would certainly be welcomed in my opinion.
