Big League Dreams in Gilbert will host Mayor John Lewis’ second annual “Cactus League Hot Dog Challenge,” 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 5.

Lewis has challenged Mesa Mayor Scott Smith to a winner-take-all softball game that includes firefighters and police officers, and there will be a pitching booth, batting cages, a petting zoo, live music, face painting and a tribute to Cactus League and baseball history.

Proceeds from hot dog and raffle ticket sales will benefit former Arizona Diamondbacks player Shea Hillenbrand’s Against All Odds Foundation, a charity serving children and animals in need. A Youth Sports Village will help East Valley residents connect with local youth sports organizations.

Big League Dreams is at 4536 E. Elliot Road. For a full schedule and more information, visit http://cactusleaguehotdogchallenge.com/schedule.
