Do you remember where you were and what you were doing the day of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks? Do you have a story you'd like to share? The town of Gilbert has set up a special 9/11 Memorial blog where you can share feelings, stories, memories or pay tribute to those who lost their lives and those who demonstrated heroism.
The blog is part of Gilbert's effort to construct a regional 9/11 memorial using an 8-foot beam from the World Trade Center. The steel beam will be on display for residents to view and touch at a number of upcoming events. You can also purchase a brick for the memorial; those purchased by July 25 will be on the memorial when it is unveiled on Sept. 11.
Submit your stories and thoughts about 9/11 to the blog at www.gilbertaz.gov/911MemorialBlog or by email to 911Memorial@gilbertaz.gov. To learn more about the memorial and how you can help, visit www.gilbertaz.gov/911Memorial.
