A spaghetti and meatball dinner will be held Wednesday night to help an Apache Junction family take two of their children to Ohio to meet with medical experts.

Sarah and Daniel Walsh, ages 3 and 1, have both been diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia, a rare genetic disorder.

According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Fanconi Anemia "prevents bone marrow from making enough new blood cells for your body to work normally." It can also lead to leukemia and creation of tumors in the body.

The Walsh family wants to take the children to meet with experts in the disease and undergo testing and potential surgery in Ohio.

Christina’s Pizzeria, 884 E. Williams Field Road, will host the fundraiser dinner, with seatings at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. For information, call (480) 620-8980.

The suggested donation for dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children for pasta and meatballs, salad and bread.
