The Gilbert Police Department has launched an Internet-based program that allows citizens to submit tips about crime and traffic as well as other concerns.
The program, simply called “Submit a Tip,” was launched on Monday and allows residents to submit tips about crimes, special patrol requests in their neighborhood and anonymous reports of fugitives or those wanted on warrants via the Web or text message.
The tips can be submitted by visiting the police department’s website at http://www.gilbertaz.gov/police and clicking on the “Submit a Tip” link, which will guide residents through the process.
Any crime tip submitted to the police department should be for crimes that have already happened and for citizens who want to assist the police department in apprehending the offender. It also can be used to notify police of other suspicious activity. The “Submit a Tip” program should not be used to crimes in progress, and it is not a replacement for 911.
If anyone sees a crime in progress, residents still are urged to call 911 if it is an emergency or the Gilbert Police Department at (480) 503-6500.
