In an effort to reduce air pollution and sewage waste, Gilbert will work with REV Biodiesel to collect used cooking grease at fire stations now through Jan. 5.

Valley residents may dispose of the grease at any Gilbert fire station. The grease will be converted to a biodegradable, non-toxic alternative biodiesel. Last year, more than 10,000 pounds of used cooking oils were converted by the Gilbert company.

For those interested in participating in the program, all 11 Gilbert fire station locations will be drop-off sites. A map of Gilbert’s fire stations can be found at evtnow.com/gilbertfirestations.

Not for nothing, but if the town of Gilbert is saving so much, how much do they save by paying the garbage can inspector? The person who drives around town, looks in re- cycle cans for trash, and places stickers on the outside.
