In the case of an emergency, the Town of Gilbert not only wants it residents to be ready — but prepared to help.

The Gilbert Fire Department is teaching residents basic disaster preparedness through its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), which trains people in such areas as disaster preparedness, medical operations, First-Aid, search and rescue techniques, applying fire suppresion strategies and treating shock and controlling bleeding.

Classes are scheduled for June and August at the Gilbert Fire Administration office at 85 E. Civic Center Drive.

To register for a course, call the Gilbert Fire Department at (480) 503-6300 or visit www.gilbertaz.gov/fire/cert.cfm
