The Town of Gilbert is set to hire a familiar face to be its new fire chief, pending the approval of the Gilbert Town Council.

According to a press release, Gilbert has selected interim fire chief Jim Jobusch to become the new fire chief. The council will vote on Jobusch’s confirmation at its Aug. 15 meeting.

A majority of Jobusch’s experience as a firefighter has come with Gilbert, as he has served in the fire department since 1992. He served as the fire chief previously from March 2010 until August 2011, and has worked as the town’s assistant fire chief as well.

“I am excited for the opportunity to be the fire chief in Gilbert — a community where I live and have served for more than 20 years,” he said. “I am looking forward to strengthening the fire department’s commitment to the community by expanding our outreach efforts to make Gilbert even greater.”
