East Valley gas prices went up just half a penny in the last week, a huge change from the sharp increases since the start of the year, according to AAA Arizona.

Drivers in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Tempe were paying an average $3.783 on Thursday, just above the statewide average of $3.747.

Arizona fuel prices are up 70 cents since January 1. Nationally, prices dropped 6.3 cents in the last week to $3.718 per gallon.

“After climbing for 45 consecutive days, Arizona drivers are finally beginning to feel some welcomed relief,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “With spot gasoline prices dropping across the country, it is likely that retail prices will continue to drop in the coming days.”

Tucson and Scottsdale hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.549 and $3.883 per gallon, respectively. Wyoming and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.303 and $4.204 per gallon, respectively.

Hard to beleive that 4 years ago gas was 2 dollars a gallon cheaper because the ecomomy was in such bad shape, Im glad we got a guy like obama incharge who can make things better like he did with the price of gas.
