Families that qualify and want to participate in the federal free and reduced meal program for the current school year in Gilbert's Higley Unified School District must complete an application by Sept. 19. Applications are required each year in order to continue participating in the program.
Students currently receiving free or reduced meals who have not completed an application will begin paying full price for their meals on Sept. 19, according to a release from the district. The cost is $1.75 for breakfast with elementary and middle school lunch costs at $2.20 and a high school lunch at $2.70.
It may take up to 10 days to process an application.
Information and applications can be found at husd.org on each school's website under "quick links." Forms are also available at each school site. For questions, contact Rebecca Cook at (480) 279-7142 or email Rebecca.Cook@husd.org.
