The Gilbert Unified School District governing board approved a $358 million budget Tuesday morning for the upcoming school year, as well as a slight decrease in property taxes.

The budget is lower than the proposed $365 million budget approved at the June 30 board meeting.

The new amount has a $200.1 million maintenance and operations fund, which is $6.68 million less than the maintenance and operations fund approved in the proposed budget.

"The amount is lower because it's based on the final numbers of what the Legislature and the governor approved in the state budget," said Clyde Dangerfield, Gilbert's assistant superintendent of business services.
