The Higley Unified School District governing board's meetings can now be seen on the district's Web site and will be posted about 24 to 48 hours after each meeting, said district spokeswoman Sara Bresnahan.

The district is the first in the area to stream school board meetings online. Chandler Unified, Kyrene Elementary and Mesa Unified school district meetings can be seen through local cable access television channels.

"The district wanted to post them so the community can easily view the meetings if they are not able to attend," Bresnahan said. "It enhances the overall communication for community members to be able to see the meetings and hear directly what was discussed."

The July 8 meeting was the first one available online at www.husd.org. The two-hour meeting went live on Monday.

To watch the meeting, click on "district," "governing board" and then "watch meetings."

Cameras already installed on the walls of the governing boardroom will tape the meetings. There was no additional cost for putting the meetings online, other than the employees' time, Bresnahan said.

For information, call the Higley district office at (480) 279-7000.
