Val Vista Academy, a public tuition-free charter school scheduled to open August 2012 in Gilbert, has started construction at the southwest corner of Germann and Val Vista roads.

Operated by Ball Charter Schools, Val Vista Academy plans to serve approximately 250 kindergarten through fifth grade students for the 2012-2013 school year and up to 600 in kindergarten through eighth grade for the years following. Val Vista Academy will follow the models developed by other local Arizona Ball Charter Schools, Dobson Academy and Hearn Academy.

The school has opened enrollment for East Valley families. Classes are expected to fill up quickly. Contact (480) 565-5555 for information.

More of our taxpayer dollars being squandered while they run our public schools into the ground. Of course, this creates more cushy jobs for our outgoing flat earth religious zealots.

Just another charter school which excludes special needs kids, if they need anything other than inclusion!

Yep, no charters should be allowed-let's keep those kids going to those outstanding public schools and most of all keep those tenures and pensions safe!

That would be great to keep our children in public schools but unfortunately not everyone has a good school district and we have to look for an alternative. I have a 6th grader who is struggling with staff but cannot transfer to another public school because they will not accommodate her IEP. Many students have transferred out of this school so I know it is not just my child!
