How much power does one person have to make a difference in the lives of many? That is the question famed poet and activist Nikki Giovanni will address in her lecture, "The Compassion, The Courage, The Challenge of Poetry."
Giovanni has written or co-authored over 30 books for both children and adults. She has received numerous prestigious awards for her work including NAACP Image Awards and her autobiography was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1973. Giovanni was nominated for a Grammy for her "Nikki Giovanni Poetry Collection" in the best spoken word album category.
