Campo Verde students win national writing challenge
Two teams of students representing Gilbert Unified School District’s Campo Verde High School recently won the highest honors in the national WordWright Challenge. The challenge required students to read and analyze prose and poetry. Out of more than 580 teams nationwide, Campo Verde freshmen tied for 11th place and Campo Verde seniors tied for sixth place.
For the competition this year, students had to study a short story by John Updike or a poem by Philip Larkin.
