PARENTS MEET: The first Scottsdale Parent Council meeting of the school year will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Scottsdale Unified School District’s Education Center, 3811 N. 44th St., Phoenix.

The meeting will feature a question-and-answer session with Superintendent John Baracy.

CURRICULUM EVENT: Pima Elementary School is hosting curriculum nights at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for second through fourth grades, 6 p.m. Wednesday for fifth and sixth grades and 6 p.m. Thursday for kindergarten and first grades at the school, 8330 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale.

BOARD SESSION: The next governing board meeting in the Scottsdale Unified School District is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in the district’s Education Center, 3811 N. 44th St., Phoenix.

FAMILY READ: Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center is inviting students to bring their families to campus to enjoy good books during its monthly Family Read, from 7:50 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. Aug. 31 at the school, 4330 N. 62nd St., Phoenix.

SCHOLARSHIP HELP: The University of Phoenix is hosting workshops to help students find and apply for college scholarships and grants from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 and 10 a.m. to noon. Sept. 15 at the Hohokam Campus, 4635 E. Elwood Street, Phoenix. Information and registration: (480) 557-2945.

COMMUNITY ADVISERS: Parents and community members in the Paradise Valley Unified School District are invited to serve on the Citizens’ Community Advisory Council. Meetings are held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month in the district’s Community Resource Center, 15032 N. 32nd St., Phoenix. The next meeting is Sept. 18.
