School briefs: Q.C. district starts fall break Monday

The Queen Creek Unified School District will be on fall break Monday  to Oct. 10.

Cortina Elementary hosts book fair

Higley’s Cortina Elementary School is hosting a book fair 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday  to Friday . Families can visit the book fair from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday  at the school, 19680 S. 188th St., Queen Creek.

Orchestra concert  at Mesquite High

The Mesquite High School Orchestra will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday  in the high school auditorium, 500 S. McQueen Road, Gilbert.

Special education workshops slated

The Arizona Department of Education Parent Information Network is hosting a special education workshop series 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday  and Oct. 23 at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, 5850 E. Still Circle, Mesa.

Thursday’s workshop will discuss, “Participation in the IEP Process,” while the workshop Oct. 23 will delve into, “Parents as Advocates.”  To R.S.V.P. or for information, e-mail pachusd@cox.net or call (480) 292-7100.

The Higley Unified School District is hosting the same workshop series at the district office, 2935 S. Recker Road.
